LeAnn and Diane arrived to Pebble Creek in the midst of the pandemic on August 17th, 2020. They have known each other for 31 years, been partners for 19 years, and married for 6 years. They own Other End of the Leash Pet Boutique and Bakery located in downtown Durham. Often called the “Cheers” of pet stores, they are a local favorite of dogs and cats. They came to the business quite innocently. Trying to solve a nutrition issue for their dog Bailey, they combined LeAnn’s knowledge of medicine, with Diane’s research skills, to make a thoughtful decision about what he should eat. They continue that tradition of making thoughtful choices about all of the products they carry in the store. They are often sought for pet nutritional counseling and their homemade treats. Bacon/cheddar is the pup (and human) favorite.

LeAnn has worked as a nurse at Duke for over 30 years. She was recruited to be a Life Flight Nurse at Duke because of her neo-natal experience. She flew for 6 years and managed the Department for 4 years. She left Life Flight to become the Clinical Operations Director for the Duke North Operating Rooms. Most recently she was the Chief Human Resources (HR) Officer for the Clinical Labs and is currently the Chief HR Officer for Duke Cancer Institute.

Diane has worked in Recreation and Leisure Studies most of her life. She has served as a Camp Counselor, Outdoor Recreation Specialist, Raft Guide, White Water Canoe Instructor, Ropes Course and Corporate Team Development, and Recreation Therapist for individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries. Diane was an Associate Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill for 14 years. She retired in 2016 to manage the store full time.

In their free time LeAnn and Diane enjoy being with friends, traveling, hiking, spending time at their house in Banner Elk, walking their dogs Makana and Zander, playing pool and golf. They love the neighbors they have met so far, and can’t wait to meet everyone else.
